I’ve got good and bad things to say about all tango events.
But did not feel fair to share overly negative things about past events as many of them do take feedback and improve over the years. These are all events I’ve actually been to and speaks to my firsthand knowledge. If I mention any without having seen it myself, it’s only because I heard great things from others (and will comment on it).

- Sao Paulo Tango Festival & Championship – Brazil’s highest level event. Lively, good level, friendly.
Europe:
- Bucharest Tango Groove – sexy popular, A-crowd high level event, open bar,
- Cannoli Ospitanti – many people, awesome high level for all age-ranges, beautiful sea-setting
- X-Tango Experience (Torino)
- Torino Tango Festival – many many people, all levels but general level is lower
- Pippo’s Tango Marathon – high level (snob level) event, poor gender balance (too many young beautiful high-level followers).
- Ojos Negros – awesome event in the beautiful mountains.
- Kolasin Summer Camp – awesome community vibe, tango & non-tango activities, meeting friends and make real connection, dance level is lower (which means friendly) but there are some high-level dancers
- Sultans Istanbul….march or november?
- Noches de Hungria – awesome event, good level, beautiful venue, included dinner for socializing
- Carnivalito (Chisinau)
- Prague Tango Marathon (September)
- Bari Tango Congress – very Italian/Argentinian style event of maestros and wannabe maestros. mostly older folks, and then all young ones are professionals or there for the classes. great instruction, small cozy event in small town Italy.
- BTT – heard great things.
- European Tango Festival & Championship (bari)
- Summer Tango Contact (Stockholm) – friendly event, good performances.
- Los Higos (Kalamata)
- Lisbon Tango Marathon
- Belgrade Encuentro, Summer Tango Marathon
- The Wave – excellent event
- Cerasielo (Napoli) – small event of high level dancers. nice venue with amazing views overlooking the city. city itself is fun to walk around and easy to explore. go out for dinner.
- Quiero Verte (Krakow) – nice venue and friendly vibe, many dancers of all levels and age range. great maestros and performances. krakow old town itself is beautiful and easy to walk around.
- Astana Tango Festival & Championship – beautiful venue, lovely show,
- Abrazame (Barcelona) – nice venue and good dance level, but night milongas start/end too early (e.g. 7pm-2am)
- Remolino (Kiev) – incredible 10-day event.
Asia
- Spicy Tango Weekend – small marathon with mostly young crowd (China & Korea) of decent level.
- Beijing Ideal Marathon – modern but warm art space venue, good level and friendly vibe. lots of comfortable seating with great views all around the room.
- Shanghai Tango Festival – beautiful venue with colorful lights, looks like a futuristic modern spaceship. great performers and wide mix of all levels of dancers (from mostly asia).
- TUTU Tango Marathon (Hong Kong) – strong level event with many solid dancers, lively city setting.
- Taipei Tango Weekend (TTW) – nice event with good level dancers, venue in lively part of town.
- La Luna Tango Encuentro (hanoi) – nice little festival with competition during the day. friendly event.
- Shanghai Tango Marathon – good event, nice level and friendly vibe, classy comfy venue.
