Argentine Tango Shoe Reviews – mens & womens

I’m a leader, so I know mens brands better. But can still share comments on womens shoes from my friends.

Explaining my profile…I’m an athletic leader with extremely wide (and thick) feet. I move around a lot, have strong ankles, and do a lot of physical movements. I dance often (3-5 days/week & couple hours every milonga), and usually prefer leather sole over chrome for longer sole-durability. Also, I feel hard leather soles have more arch support (for my flat feet) whereas chrome soles tend to be softer and give my feet fatigue quicker in the night.

Men’s tango shoe brands

ConforTango aka Fiori Di Tango (Italy) – great fit, quality, design

  • Excellent shoes with perfect fit to my wide feet, beautiful design, excellent quality. For sure, probably the best shoes I’ve ever had…especially in terms of fit. Something to know about shoes for wide feet is that you want the width of the actual bottom outer sole to be wide as well, not only the upper material. And ConforTango shoes have the widest bottom sole I’ve had yet. Truly perfect, I’m so so happy with these.
  • If there’s any cons, I would say that the leather bottoms wear down to a super smooth finish, so you’ll have to brush the bottom to get some grip…or have super slippery shoes.

Concordance (Turkey) – beautiful, unique designs, great quality, wide feet, chrome sole

  • Beautiful extremely stylish shoes, very unique one-off designs, also great prices (often discounted for discontinued models), and you’re speaking to the owner who often makes discounts to sell off as many pairs as possible. Owner is a very nice guy. Shoe is generally soft, and the bottom sole is usually black chrome…which works fine but I felt it to be slightly less supportive and therefore my feet got tired faster. Still, it’s a great brand and highly recommended. For the style, quality, and price…you can’t beat this brand. And the wide-fit makes it a top brand for me. Just a matter if you like the soft shoe or not. Don’t worry, it’s not super soft like a split-sole stage shoe (that allows pointed feet).

Claudio Gonzalez (Argentina) – boutique, unique designs, high quality, can fit wide feet

  • This brand is all the rage in Buenos Aires right now (as of 2026). They have a dozen beautiful designs, very boutique and unique stylish, can fit wide feet well, and very high quality outer bottom sole…choose from super thick hard leather or high quality hard chrome. Nice range of color selections, and do know that each pair is hand-made and can fit slightly different on your feet. I bought a pair and very excited. But did notice the actual bottom sole was very narrow, it was only the upper material that gave a wide feel. Will see how this works out.

Odile (South Korea) – sexiest designs, soft leather, great build and support, gold standard in Asia, thin outer sole

  • Ultra-popular design worn by many maestras worldwide, receiving special world recognition since many superstar/celebrity followers (even from far away Argentina) wear them as well. They’ve easily got 100+ designs for both men and women, and full customization options, frequent sales at amazing discounts. If there are any complaints, it’s that their womens shoes tend to be discriminating only for narrow feet and sexy-shaped feet. And that custom orders take forever if not impossible.
  • I tried a pair that was on sale, and not even the right size for me (slightly long, also too narrow) but as promised by the owner, their leather is very soft and can quickly stretch within a few uses, also that the normal width is already fitted for wide feet (indeed the bottom sole width is already wider than most shoes). Turns out they were right. I was surprised how easily the shoe reformed to my foot shape. The bottom sole also keeps its grip when wearing down, it doesn’t rub totally smooth like most hard leather. I enjoyed the shoe very much but soon saw some issues.
  • First is the super thin outer bottom sole, it’s thinner compared to all other brands and I feel kinda shady as this means the shoe won’t last as long. Next the upper outer material is also thin and quickly made a hole around my big toe. So generally the shoes are beautifully designed, great fit, and perform well, but they won’t last long. So they’re not worth the expensive regular price, but good deal on sale.
  • I tried to make a custom order and the owner was sooooo slow to respond. I had to keep asking locals who knew her personally and only then would she respond but I had to keep messaging endlessly on both FB & WA. In the end, after several months of waiting, I tried the custom order shoes and felt they were made incorrectly. Proper length but wrong width (seemed normal width and now super-wide as I had specified endlessly). Frustrating experience in poor communication and poor result. I’ll never buy again except for the big holiday 60% sales and only if they have something close enough to my size.

Mr. Tango (Colombia) – cheap, customizable, generic

  • Marketed predominantly in America (continent), with a made-to-order business model. They offer a big catalog with numerous designs and customization options. Easy to find a shape and fit, specifications for any foot and taste. Pricing is already low, and further discounts can be made based on “friend status”, quantity discounts, etc. Designs are quite generic and not particularly unique or boutique-ish, although choosing the right materials and colors can help give a “premium look”. Shoes are cheap in cost, cheap in materials, but put together well and usable over an extended length of time. I used them happily for years.

Monsieur Pivot aka Madam Pivot (Italy) – clean, minimal, overly stiff sole

  • One of the top 5 most popular brands, especially for women. I feel they’re more popular with the older crowd, especially since they don’t have so many young sexy cool designs to appeal to younger designs…but this is just my perception. For mens shoes, I find their design clean and sleek, more simple than fancy. The shoes can do and do fit my wide feet, but the cushioning is a bit too thin or stiff. Feels like I’m dancing on a very stiff sole on a very hard floor and my the bottom of my feet hurt or get tired very quickly. Definitely not my favorite.

Regina (italy) – most beautiful & expensive, most popular in europe, but freaken overrated and poor quality (at least for mens)

  • Original maker of the Bandolera womens tango shoes brand. Long considered the best tango shoes for women, incredible designs, amazing fit, support, structural heel placement. But expensive. Many argentinean maestras wore them around the world further establishing the brand status. Over time…the owner broke up with her business partner (who retained the Bandolera name), and started the new Regina brand. Since then, copycats came out, and the Regina brand itself has also lost some prestige due to decreasing quality over time. Nonetheless, the shoes are still super beautiful and high performance. The same would be expected for the men’s line but my experience was disappointing.
  • Regina men’s tango shoes are beautiful design, good fit (soft thin upper material that stretches and fits wide feet well), but shitty quality (soles peeling off within a week, easily torn, intricate designs look crappy within a month if not the first 1-2 weeks). Especially considering the high price, I would NEVER recommend a Regina shoe to anybody. Don’t bother with custom shoes either. Custom orders take forever.

Other brands:

  • Mush Mush – their stock models were much too tight.
